"I enjoyed my stay, staff were very helpful and friendly, the building is an old heritage listed and has character. It looks like the cleaner never stops cleaning up after other guest. Would be better if everyone would clean up after themselves making it more comfortable for all others" - Tony, March 2009
"Old building that need updating so don't expect the ritz, location could not be better walking distance from all main Freo attractions, and staff 1st class. This was our second visit and will book again." - Alan and Margaret, Februrary 2009
Lonely Planet review
"It's as if Freo's famously pleasant afternoon sea breeze, the
Fremantle Doctor, has just floated through Backpacker's Inn. New
management has breathed fresh life into this YHA - the only one in
Freo - and rooms are bright and clean.
Some doubles are notably spacious (better than many a room in a
budget hotel), and tend to be quiet at night; surprising considering
some rooms line the street. Perhaps the best feature is the evening
movies, shown on the mini-cinema screen in the
communal-area-cum-theatre, a great time to socialise before
retiring. No late-night rabble-rousing is allowed here - if you're
feeling lively, you'll be politely asked to take it to the pub, a
short stumble up the street. At Backpackers Inn, bedding and
kitchenware are supplied (so you can leave your crockpot at home),
and there's a comfy TV lounge area, which will probably put you off
to sleep once you've gobbled up in some fish 'n' chips down at
Fishing Boat Harbour. A solid YHA experience."
